Echo App Reviews
Great App but..
It could have cmd + F feature avaliable when showing response
Im an developer myself, so I know that it takes some time to fix a problem and that Apple needs some time to approve an app. But the time it takes to fix this problem regarding disappearing UI elements is getting ridiculous. Ive paid money for this app and I have not been able to use it at all ever since I bought it. At least give your customers notice about whats going on. Did you at least submit the update yet?
It does more or less what it says on the tin. A couple of improvements Id really like to see: 1) The ability to specify URL parameters in fields, not only in the URL. 2) The ability to set parameters common to all requests in a project, so I dont have to put in APIKEY and FORMAT arguments every single time by hand.
If you are looking for a tool that gives you the ease of use and convenience of an UI without having to relinquish this fine grain control of your header parameters that a manual socket connection or command line tools like curl may give you - look no further. Plus side: - great and direct support from the development team! thank you guys - fine grained control when it comes to your request - which is what you really want, dont you (dont forget to specify the "Accept" request Header as I did though or it bites you ;) ) - requests can be neatly arranged in project folders/collections which is great if you have multiple interfaces or parameter permutations you have to query and want quick access - price My personal wish list: - The response outline view is great but Id love a way to collapse/expand all nodes
First of all: The app has a nice userinterface, but there are some things which must be improved. The app can’t handle large responses. It starts hanging and the UI does not react anymore. Also you can not deactivate cookies for authentication. When these issues get fixed, I’ll give a better rating
Great software, off to a really good start. The UI is really good. Missing a couple HTTP request types like DELETE, but the developer told me it was coming in the next update!
Amazing!
This is by FAR the best REST test app out there - dont even bother thinking about buying it - if you work in web dev, just buy it, its a no brainer!
When you restart, no longer displays any edit field. Please add settings. I would like to see such a setting as default result in a tree and copying the request that we could do for each API method your branch in the tree.
New feature
Please make the ability to display HTML response, in addition to Text/HEX/Raw
Quite good
Please add the ability to copy response text to the clipboard.
Good app for developers! Id like 2 useful feature: 1) Cookies. Pls add feature to manage self added cookie for requests. 2) Add setting to manage escaping symbols in request url. (onoff escaping or not)
Slow
Extremely slow. It takes 10 to 20 seconds to perform a single GET request, during which time the interface is completely frozen.
The interface is great, the organizational option are perfect for repeated testing and periodic one off reporting… I love this app. I havent experienced any slow response times or frozen interface issues as reported by fivekan, so dont let that review scare you away from this app. Im really looking forward to seeing more features added to this app--more HTTP methods (DELETE, OPTIONS, TRACE, etc) Id buy it again.
Interface is missing.
Running 10.8.2, the window is mostly blank - no input boxes to type in.
Downloaded and run on 10.8.2, set up a few requests, and it works great. Not sure why others were experiencing trouble. If your request is taking 20 seconds… its probably your server. Very happy with this utility.
It would be nice if GET urls could be parsed out (similar to how the body variables are..) other then that. it works good. oh, for those that are not showing the input boxes… resize (expand) the application. Same thing happened to me. Maximizing the window showed the fields..
I am part of the team under MCI.2--comment from November 1, 2012. Weve been using this app since November 1, 2012 to test a requests via various REST APIs, as well as in the development of one of our own… this software has made our lives A LOT easier. Well done! Were really looking forward to 1.1--hoping for DELETE and OPTIONS methods. :)
The biggest gripe after the first 10 minutes of using it is that the tabs on the top right switches back to "Overview" after every single request. That means I have to make 2 extra clicks before I can see the response text, which is the main thing that I care about. If you can fix that, I would be happy!
Thanks for the update… Its a little better now ;) But still I get UI frezzes and I NEED TO FORCE QUIT THE APP ALL THE TIME!!!! Previous version review: This app looks very nice but it doesnt work, the interface is constantly frozen (during requests and some other interactions), the forms are initally hidden (I "un-hide" fields using the tab key). Looks pretty untested. I really regret because I really wanted to get this kinda app, Im tired of Fetcher and anything other HTTP tester and this one looked like awesome…but it isnt unfortulately… I would love to rate this app 5 stars because the design and the idea is great. But the implementaion doesnt even decerve 2 stars. Sorry :(
I wanted to love this app, but there were always a few things that kept me from that. This update hit upon most if my few issues I kept running into. Just these three changes alone are improve my day to day use Echo! Thank you.
